Everyone has that one intersection they hate. I have to traverse mine every morning since it sits between me and my work. With the exception of the off-ramp, every road coming into it has at least two turning lanes and most of the ways out of it offer more than one lane. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so here’s the intersection from a bird’s view.
In the mornings, I approach this corner from either the northeast (top-right) or east (right). Coming from the east, there are two left-turn lanes. The right one feeds directly into the on-ramp lane, the left one has the option to avoid the ramp and go southwest. Note that there are two lanes that feed the on-ramp from the northeast and one from the southwest. Traffic is expected to merge on the ramp and the left lanes are given the priority.
This morning I approached from the east. I was second in line in the left-most lane behind a civic. We both started in the left-most lane coming from the east. He was the first car at the light, I was the second. As many people do, he accelerated hard at the light to get ahead of traffic and slipped into the right-most lane for the ramp. I accelerated a little harder than he did, stayed in my indicated lane, then took the left lane onto the ramp. I passed him on the left in the turn and was well ahead of him before the solid white line ended and merging was allowed. Again, picture, thousand words.... The red line is the civic, the yellow me.
It appears he didn’t like my driving. He flipped me the bird. No big deal. I didn’t see him again after we got onto the interstate.
Now, my question to you. Was this bird-worthy?

Bro, if someone overtakes you, it’s because they’re an asshole. Everyone knows this.

Of course it’s not. The last time I was flipped the bird, it was because I honked as a Range Rover blew through a yield and decided they were going to merge into me. Love Rover drivers.

This is the only bird this is worthy of.
